Management Development

South East College of Further Education & Training (FET) offer courses both full & part-time. Course subjects include traditional management studies such as Communication Management, Project Management, Customer Management, Finance, Team Management, and Marketing to name but a few; to contemporary subjects such as Creativity & Innovation, Emotional Intelligence, Change Management, Mental Toughness, Critical Thinking and Enterprise Awareness.

All courses are delivered as unit-based qualifications. Unit based qualifications allows the learner choose from studying an Award, a Certificate or a Diploma.

• An Award – concise qualification covering the basic knowledge and skills in the subject. An Award is usually completed within 4 to 6 months.

• A Certificate – for those wanting a more comprehensive programme in their chosen subject. A certificate is generally completed within 8 to 12 months.

• A Diploma – for those looking to gain the complete range of skills, knowledge and understanding in their subject. A Diploma is generally completed within 14 to 24 months.

The awards, certificates and diplomas at each level are nested to encourage progression, without having to repeat topics. Therefore a learner can complete an Award or a Certificate and opt to continue to a Diploma through undertaking the additional Units of learning required to successfully achieve a Diploma.

Existing and/or new Managers, Team Leads & Supervisors (QQI Level 5 & 6)

Award, Certificate & Diploma in Leadership & Management
The ILM Level 3 (QQI Level 5 & 6) Award Certificate & Diploma in Leadership & Management develops a wide range of fundamental management skills by assisting students in gaining the comprehensive knowledge required by a first-line manager or supervisor. Course Units include; Leadership Skills, Communication Skills, Leading And Motivating A Team Effectively, Planning & Allocating Work, Conflict & Discipline In The Workplace, Solving Problems And Making Decisions, Managing Workplace Projects, Understanding Financial Management, Customer Service & Selling, Marketing For Managers, Recruitment And Selection, Health And Safety, Safety and Waste Management In The Workplace.

This level is ideal for individuals who:

Are serious about developing their leadership and management capabilities and career
Have a knowledge of management responsibilities but no formal training or qualification

Middle & Senior Management (QQI Level 6 & 7)

Certificate & Diploma in Leadership & Management
The ILM Level 5 (QQI Level 6 & 7) Award, Certificate & Diploma in Leadership & Management has been specifically designed to give practising managers a solid foundation for their formal development in this role, building up a wide range of basic middle management skills and gaining the comprehensive leadership and management knowledge required at this level. Course Units include; Improving Own Leadership Performance Through Action Learning, Developing Critical Thinking, Leading Innovation and Change, Managing for Efficiency and Effectiveness, Managing Projects in the Organisation, Making Professional Presentations, Making a Financial Case to name a few.

This level is ideal for individuals who:

Are serious about developing their leadership and management capabilities and career
Have knowledge and experience of management responsibilities but no formal training or qualification
